Noktalı sekizlik ve onaltılık örneğinde aslında bu yapının üç farklı şekilde icra edilebileceğini ve bu durumların müzik içeriğine göre değiştiğini söylemişler. Bizim ülkemizde noktalı sekizlik ve onaltılık meselesine karşı çok garip bir yaklaşım vardır. Hangi enstrümanı çalıyor olursanız olun önemli bir bilgi olduğu için sizin de bilmeniz faydalı olacaktır.

The meaning of dotted rhythms
To Beethoven and his contemporaries a normal dotted figure could mean anything from:
– a double dotted figure,
– an overdotted, almost or occasionally more than double dotted figure to
– a triplet 2:1 ratio.
There are plenty of places in Beethoven’s Violin Sonatas where he clearly expected the assimilation to triplets, such as in the last movement of op. 24, bars 196 ff, and the first movement of op. 96, bars 41 ff. (please see musical sample 1).
In Schubert‘s “Erstarrung“ from “Die Winterreise“ you will find another example for this notational practice which was widely adopted throughout the first half of the 19th century (please see musical sample 2).
There is a nice example for the assimilation to a double dotted rhythm between the winds (bassoon/horn) and the chorus in the 1st act of Schubert’s “Alfonso und Estrella“, No. 10 Finale, bars 163 ff. (please see musical sample 3).
In summary, the precise relationship between two dotted notes was determined by context, not mathematics!
Knowledge of these conventions is important, isn’t it? Saves musicians a lot of trouble …
